INTRODUCTION According to the World Health Organization (WHO), worldwide obesity (having a body mass index or BMI greater than or equal to 30) has more than doubled since 1980.1 In 2014, more than 1.9 billion adults, 18 years and older, were overweight (BMI 25 to < 30) and of these adults, over 600 million were obese. Overweight and obesity are linked to more deaths than underweight. Globally there are more people who are obese and overweight than underweight, with the exception of parts of sub-Saharan Africa and Asia.
